Those interested in discussing the formation of a Gainesville
Horticulture Society will meet Wednesday, January 31st at 7:00 pm at the
Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. Attached are the notes from the previous
meeting.

"One of the first fundraisers for our new Horticulture Society will take
place Wednesday, May 16, 2207, when internationally known
lecturer/nurseryman/plant explorer Tony Avent of Plants Delight in
Raleigh NC will be speaking at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens at 7 pm. His
entertaining and insightful talk is entitled: "From Exploration to
Exploitation...How New Plants Get to Market". We will start with a
catered dinner with beer and wine at 6 pm in the Summer House. Seating
will be limited to the first 125 NFBS members who RSVP to this e-mail
address. The price for dinner and speaker is $35. There will also be
valuable door prizes donated by our corporate partners that will be
handed out to winning ticket holders.

Alan Shapiro

Remember, in order to participate, you must be a dues paying member of
the North Fla. Botanical Society. Contact Kanapaha Botanical Garden for
membership information. At this time, membership fees are $25 for
students, $35 for individuals, and $50 for families, but that amount may
be increasing soon, so join now! The phone number at KBG is 372-4981."

Please pass this along to anyone from the UF community who might be
interested.
