I'm pretty sure you just send an email to *<a href="/cgi-bin/wa?LOGON=A3%3Dind07%26L%3DSHODISCUSSION-L%26E%3D7bit%26P%3D1348106%26B%3D--------------040507030700050401010609%26T%3Dtext%252Fplain%3B%2520charset%3DISO-8859-1" >[log in to unmask]</a> *with 
nothing in the body of the message but "subscribe __________" with 
whatever listserv you want in the blank.  for sho, it would be 
"subscribe SHODISCUSSION-L".

Likewise, to unsubscribe from SHO (heaven forbid!), you'd put in 
"unsubscribe SHODISCUSSION-L"
