The Human Technology Interaction group at the Eindhoven University of Technololgy in the Netherlands is inviting applications for a post doctoral scholar position (2,5 years, starting November 2015). This position is embedded within a Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO-WOTRO) funded project "Productive Employment: From Muppets to Gazelles”.
The Postdoctoral researcher will be employed in the context of the project "Productive Employment: From Muppets to Gazelles”. The overall project is aimed at understanding the sociological and social psychological determinants of innovative entrepreneurship in low-income Sub-Saharan African countries. Dynamic entrepreneurs are sorely needed in order to boost local/regional economic growth and productive employment through innovations that can improve productivity and create new markets. Barriers to dynamic entrepreneurship are especially large in the rural areas, and among women. Recent research indicates that rural based entrepreneurs in Uganda are hardly using their existing networks, nor creating new networks to acquire novel information to generate innovations, while urban entrepreneurs use and balance their networks. More fundamental research is needed to explain these differences. In the project we are generating and testing hypotheses regarding motivational foundations of social networking, moderated by a social context.
